23-year-old woman ‘stable’ after Monday shooting near BBQ joint in Macon
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into a Monday afternoon shooting that occurred in front of a barbecue restaurant in Macon.
Deputies responded around noon to Hall Street at Northern Street in front of Fincher’s Barbecue in reference to an aggravated assault and shooting that left a 23-year-old woman injured, according to a news release.
Paramedics responded to the scene, and the victim was transported to a local medical facility for treatment. As of Tuesday, she remains in stable condition, the sheriff’s office said.
Authorities did not disclose the victim’s name.
Fincher’s Barbecue said in a Facebook post Monday that the shooting happened near the restaurant, but not at the establishment. All employees and customers were safe.
“It’s heartbreaking and frustrating to continue seeing things like this happen in Macon,” the restaurant said in the post. “Running a restaurant is already challenging enough without situations like these affecting our employees, customers, and community.
“We appreciate everyone checking on us and supporting our staff. Please continue to pray for Macon and for everyone involved,” the restaurant said.
Law enforcement said this incident remains under investigation, and no additional details are available at this time.
