Macon attorney charged with bringing drugs into Bibb County Jail, sheriff’s office says
A Macon attorney was arrested for allegedly bringing an envelope laced with synthetic marijuana into the local jail, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release Tuesday.
Kevin Bradley, 60, allegedly brought an envelope with documents “soiled in a substance similar to a Schedule I controlled substance, K2,” into the Bibb County Jail on the evening of April 25, BCSO said in the news release.
K2 is another name for spice or synthetic marijuana and is made to “mimic THC, the main psychoactive ingredient of marijuana,” according to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
The envelope was discovered by correctional deputies, which sparked an investigation by the sheriff’s office’s special investigations unit.
Bradley was taken into custody at noon on Tuesday and charged with possession of a Schedule I controlled substance with the intent to distribute and crossing state county guard lines with drugs without consent, according to the news release.
He’s being held without bond.
“This arrest demonstrates our commitment to maintaining the integrity and security of the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center,” Sheriff David Davis said in the news release. “Introducing illegal substances into a correctional facility — by anyone, under any circumstance — will not be tolerated.”
The investigation into the incident remains pending. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500 or the Macon Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
