Man arrested, charged with murder in shooting death of older brother in Macon

A man was arrested and charged with murder after allegedly shooting and killing his older brother in Macon, Bibb County deputies said in a news release Sunday.

Dispatchers received a call of a person shot just before 9 p.m. Saturday. Deputies arrived at a home in the 4700 block of High Oak Drive, a residential area, where they found Robert Thomas, 52, suffering from a gunshot wound, according to the news release.

Roderick Thomas, 46, was arrested and charged with murder Sunday in connection to the fatal shooting.

“It was reported that the incident was a domestic dispute between brothers,” the news release said.

Robert Thomas was pronounced dead by Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley. The next of kin has been notified. Robert Thomas’ body will be sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for an autopsy, the news release said.
