Man dead after suffering gunshot wound in Macon, deputies say.

A man was shot at a home in Canary Lane in Macon and later died Wednesday, according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

The Macon-Bibb Emergency 911 Center received a call at 8:24 a.m. regarding a person being shot, according to the deputies’ news release. Deputies found a 41-year-old man who had been shot at a house in Canary Lane. He was identified as Brandon Givens, according to Coroner Leon Jones.

The deputies “immediately rendered aid by performing lifesaving measures prior to paramedics arriving ...” the news release said.

The man was taken to a local medical facility, where he died, the release said.

A person of interest was found on the scene. He was taken to the Criminal Investigation Division for further investigation.
