A Macon man who showed a “pattern of escalating violence” will serve 15 years in prison, according to a news release Thursday from the Macon Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office .

Christopher Dewayne Bonner had his probation revoked on Wednesday after carjacking and jail stabbing incidents in 2024. He was sentenced to 15 years.

Bonner was serving probation on an aggravated assault case from 2020 when he committed a carjacking on Anthony Road Aug. 8, 2024, the news release said.

He approached the driver, “leveled a firearm at him, threatened his life, and forced him from the vehicle,” the news release said.

Bonner fled with the car, but crashed after a police pursuit. He attempted to escape, but was soon arrested. Deputies discovered a firearm, a ski mask and the victim’s belongings, according to the news release.

While in jail on the carjacking charges, Bonner attacked another incarcerated man on Dec. 9, 2024. Bonner stole the man’s commissary and, when confronted, the defendant stabbed the man with a shank “at least six times,” the news release said.

Prosecutors said that “even the walls of the jail could not contain Bonner’s violence,” the news release said.

“Actions like these demonstrate exactly why our office pursues probation revocations with the same vigor as the underlying charges,” said District Attorney Anita Howard. “The people of Macon deserve to be safe in their cars, in their homes, and even in our county jail.”
