Unidentified body found in Macon storage unit, deputies say

Deputies found a body at a Macon storage facility Thursday while investigating the case of a missing person, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators initially searched a unit related to the missing persons case at 10 Federal Storage, 4100 Riverside Drive, but found a person dead inside, according to a sheriff’s office news release .

Deputies couldn’t immediately identify the person, so family members had not yet been notified of the death, according to the release.

The body is expected to undergo an autopsy by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab to determine cause of death and the person’s identity.

The sheriff’s office described the case as a “death investigation.”

It was unclear if the person they found was the subject of the missing persons case.
