Bicyclist killed in fatal car crash along Hawkinsville Road in Macon, deputies said

A driver struck and killed a bicyclist Wednesday morning in Bibb County, deputies said in a news release.

The fatal collision occurred on Hawkinsville Road around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday. Patrol deputies were told the driver of a 2008 Honda Civic struck a bicyclist while the car “was traveling south on Hawkinsville Road approaching Feagin Road,” the news release said.

“When deputies arrived on scene, they discovered the male was unresponsive,” deputies said in the news release. “Paramedics responded to the scene to treat the male, but he had succumbed to his injury.”

The bicyclist was identified as Michael Hill, 43, the news release said.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office hasn’t charged anyone in connection with the incident. The case is under investigation.

Deputies urged anyone with information to contact the sheriff’s office at 478-751-7500 to speak with a fatality investigator.
