Bibb County deputy arrested on incest charge. He’s been ‘terminated,’ sheriff says

A Bibb County deputy and his wife were arrested Tuesday in an incest case, according to a news release from the Jones County Sheriff’s Office .
Sgt. Michael Scott Dorough, 45, and his wife, Ashley Dorough, 40, were arrested by the Jones County and Bibb County sheriff’s offices. They each were charged with cruelty to children by depriving them of sustenance and influencing witnesses, according to the news release.
Michael Dorough faces an additional charge of incest, according to Jones County law enforcement.
“The Jones County Sheriff’s Office takes all allegations of this nature seriously and remains committed to thoroughly investigating these cases to ensure justice is served,” the news release said. “This remains an active and ongoing investigation, and additional charges are expected.”
Michael Dorough was terminated from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff David Davis confirmed Wednesday. The sergeant’s case was “extremely serious and deeply concerning,” he said in a statement.
“Let me be clear — no one is above the law,” Davis said. “We will fully cooperate with the legal process and the agencies investigating this case. We remain committed to protecting children and upholding the highest standards within the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.”
