Man found with machete at Perry elementary school arrested Friday morning

A man was arrested early Friday morning after authorities say he was found outside a Perry elementary school with a machete.

Around 6:30 a.m., Perry Police Department officers responded to a call about a male, identified as Cody Alley, with a machete “beating on a door” at Langston Road Elementary, according to a press release.

Alley was charged with possession of a weapon on school property, disrupting or interfering with a public school, and criminal trespass.

Police said the incident occurred outside of normal operating school hours.

“There were no children at the school, and no one was injured. Custodial staff was on site setting up for field day,” the police report said.

The Houston County School District did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
