A Byron man pleaded guilty in a child sex trafficking case in Houston County and was ordered to serve eight years in prison, according to a news release Thursday from Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr.

Demaria Williams pleaded guilty to one count of statutory rape and one count of pandering of a person under the age of 18 on Wednesday. He was the fourth and final defendant in a sex trafficking case that involved a 13-year-old girl in Houston County.

He was sentenced to eight years in prison, followed by 17 years of probation, and must register as a sex offender after completing his prison sentence.

Williams responded to ads posted by Emma-Lee Garcia, one of the defendants in the case, and traveled to a motel where he sexually assaulted the victim.

The other defendants

Garcia was convicted in May 2025 of five counts of trafficking persons for sexual servitude. She posted “online advertisements selling the child for sex, (harboring) the child in a motel in Houston County for the purpose of commercial sex and (benefitting) financially from the sale of the child,” according to the news release.

Noe Borromeo Hernandez, who purchased the child for sex, pleaded guilty in August 2025 to one count of trafficking persons for sexual servitude, two counts of child molestation and one count of statutory rape, the news release said.

Brian Tequan Smith “molested the child, introduced the child to defendant Garcia and later solicited the child for sexual servitude,” the news release said. He pleaded guilty to two counts of trafficking persons for sexual servitude, one count of aggravated child molestation and one count of statutory rape.

Garcia was sentenced to 18 years in prison, followed by 22 years of probation. Hernandez was sentenced to 10 years in prison, followed by 15 years of probation. Smith was sentenced to five years in prison, followed by 20 years of probation, according to the news release.

Like Williams, Garcia and Smith must register as sex offenders once they complete their prison sentences. However, Hernandez “is expected to be deported following the completion of his prison sentence,” the news release said.

How the case began

The 13-year-old victim disclosed to law enforcement that she was being sold for sex in Warner Robins. An investigation by Carr’s Human Trafficking Unit led to indictments for Garcia, Hernandez and Smith in late 2024.

The investigation later revealed Williams’ involvement , leading to his indictment.

“Four predators are off our streets and behind bars thanks to the dedicated work of our Human Trafficking Prosecution Unit,” said Carr. “Once we start an investigation, we won’t rest until every victim is safe and every trafficker is brought to justice. This is exactly why we established a regional office in Macon, and we’re fighting each day to combat human trafficking in our state.”
