Authorities searching for suspect in Valentine’s Day armed robbery, aggravated assault
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in finding a suspect involved with an armed robbery and aggravated assault on Saturday that left an 18-year-old man injured.
The incident happened at Sprint Foods on Mercer University Drive around 11 a.m., according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
Two suspects were trying to take a gun from an 18-year-old customer when it fired twice. The suspects fled the scene with the man’s gun, and he was taken to the hospital. He was treated and discharged later that day, the release said.
Authorities executed a search warrant at a home on Swan Drive Thursday and arrested 33-year-old Joshua Jwen Hill and 22-year-old Cecret Brejaneah Bowens in connection with the crime, the release said.
Bowens was charged with misdemeanor willful obstruction of law enforcement officers and felony tampering with evidence. She was released on bond. Hill was charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, felony probation violation and parole violation. His bond was denied.
The sheriff’s office said they believe there is a third suspect involved. A security camera image of the suspect shows a man with a pierced ear wearing a gray hoodie and jeans. The release did not detail the suspect’s role in the incident.
Anyone with information on the suspect or the incident is urged to call the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500.
