Seven charged with using fake checks to steal $56,000 from elderly Macon man
Seven people were charged with using an elderly Macon man’s identity to deposit fake checks worth more than $56,000, according to indictments filed Tuesday.
Tatianna Billings, Jalen Printup, Teresa Billings, Deuntae Kendrick, Jerneka King, Myashia Poole and Hasani Williams face exploitation of an elder person, identity fraud, forgery in the third degree and deposit account fraud charges, according to the indictment. Poole and Williams also face a computer theft charge for reportedly depositing the fraudulent checks electronically.
The indictment claims they cashed seven fake checks using the older man’s identity between Aug. 25 and Aug. 26, 2025. The suspects allegedly stole the following amounts:
• Tatiana Billings: $8,000
• Printup: $5,023
• Teresa Billings: $6,000
• Kendrick: $6,360
• King: $5,020
• Poole: $6,000
• Williams: $20,000.
Altogether, the fake checks add up to $56,423.
What sentence do they face?
If convicted of exploitation of an elderly person, each suspect may face between one and 20 years in prison , a $50,000 fine or both.
Identity theft carries a one to 10-year sentence, and third-degree forgery one to five years. They may face a fine of $500 to $5,000 and up to three years in prison for the deposit account fraud charges.
Poole and Williams face up to 15 years in prison and a $50,000 fine if convicted of computer theft.
