Bibb County deputies catch man who allegedly burglarized home. What we know
A 22-year-old man was arrested after allegedly burglarizing a home on Riverside Drive, according to a Thursday afternoon news release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
A man was returning home on Riverside Drive after walking his dog around 2 p.m. Thursday when he was “confronted by an unknown male inside his home” with a firearm, according to deputies.
“The suspect took multiple items from the residence, including the victim’s phone, before fleeing on foot in an unknown direction,” deputies said in the news release. “The victim was not injured.”
The suspect, later identified as Ricardo Martin, 22, of Macon, was then spotted shortly thereafter by a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office investigator at the intersection of Riverside and Northside drives, according to the news release. After arresting Martin, the victim’s property, which was allegedly in Martin’s possession, was returned.
Martin was charged with burglary, aggravated assault, terroristic threats, and false imprisonment, deputies said. He’s being held without bond at the Bibb County Jail.
The incident is under investigation, and Martin could face additional charges. Deputies urge anyone with information to call the sheriff’s office at 478-751-7500 or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
