Ethan Cox was indicted in Macon on manslaughter and reckless conduct charges after allegedly dancing with a loaded gun that caused the death of John Tennant.

A man who shot and killed someone while “dancing with a loaded gun” last year has been indicted, according to court records.

Ethan Cox was indicted Jan. 20 on one count of involuntary manslaughter and one count of reckless conduct for a shooting that occurred in January 2025. In that incident, John Tennant was shot and killed, court records show.

Prosecutors allege Cox caused Tennant’s death “without any intention to do so, by dancing with a loaded handgun,” according to court records.

Cox also “unlawfully endangered the bodily safety of John Tennant by consciously disregarding a substantial and justifiable risk that his act of dancing with a loaded firearm would endanger the safety of said person,” according to prosecutors.

If convicted, Cox could face up to 10 years in prison for his involuntary manslaughter charge, according to Georgia law. His reckless conduct charge could also lead him to serve a year in jail and be fined.
