Bibb County Sheriff’s Office sits off of Oglethorpe Street on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, in Macon, Georgia. A woman died while incarcerated at the facility on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2026, deputies said.

A woman was incarcerated for four weeks before she died in the Bibb County Jail Sunday afternoon, according to the Bibb County sheriff’s and coroner’s offices.

Rachel Renee Robinson, 55, was found “unresponsive” in her cell around 2 p.m., deputies said in a news release.

Medical staff gave her CPR until an ambulance took her to a local emergency room, Coroner Leon Jones said.

Robinson was pronounced dead around 6 p.m. and Jones notified her family.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was expected to perform an autopsy on her “due to this being an in-custody death,” the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said.

The BCSO’s Office of Profesional Standards and Internal Affairs would also investigate her death, deputies said.

Atrium Health Navicent Police Department had arrested and booked Robinson in the Bibb County Jail on Nov. 22, 2025. She was charged with battery against a law enforcement officer.
