A Byron man was arrested for allegedly leading Bibb County patrol deputies “on a pursuit in a stolen U-haul,” the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post Monday.
Deputies initiated a traffic stop on the stolen truck on Interstate 75. The driver, a Byron man, refused to stop, according to the deputies. It led the patrol deputies to chase the man off Eisenhower Parkway, and the car chase ended in a nearby cemetery.
The man fled on foot, so deputies chased him and “located him hiding in the bushes,” the sheriff’s office said.
The man was “wanted on warrants out of Bibb, Jones, and Laurens counties,” the sheriff’s office said.
According to the Facebook post from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, he was transported to jail, where he faces “numerous charges,” including felony fleeing and eluding, criminal damage to property, willful obstruction of law enforcement, theft by taking and other traffic-related offenses.
