Woman dead after morning shooting in Macon, sheriff’s office investigating

A 33-year-old woman has died following a shooting in Macon Thursday morning, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies arrived at the Neighborhood Grocery on Napier Avenue just after 10 a.m. and found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound, according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Sgt. Christopher Williams told reporters at the scene that the woman was unresponsive when deputies found her.

According to a Thursday afternoon news release, the woman was inside a white sedan when she was shot at the intersection of Churchill Street and Brentwood Avenue. Witnesses said the suspect, identified as 41-year-old Bobby Wesley Troutman, was inside a black pickup truck. The woman was then taken to the Neighborhood Grocery, where 911 was called.

The woman was transported to the hospital where she died from her injuries, Williams said. Authorities identified the woman Thursday afternoon as Quandrica Lashae Slater of McDonough, just south of Atlanta.

The sheriff’s office arrested Troutman in connection with the shooting after spotting his car about an hour after the incident. He was charged with murder and was held without bond at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.

Authorities said the shooting is an isolated incident and does not pose a threat to the community.
