Stabbing leaves one man injured at the Bibb County Jail, officials confirm

A man held at the Bibb County Jail was injured in a “physical altercation” at the Bibb County Jail Monday, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies discovered that incarcerated people at the jail were involved in a physical altercation just before 5 p.m. on Monday, and one person suffered non-life-threatening injuries, Sgt. Christopher Williams said Tuesday. Williams later confirmed the victim was stabbed.

The incarcerated man was transported to a medical facility to be treated for his injuries. He is listed in stable condition, Williams said.

The incident is under investigation.
