‘Altercation’ led to shooting on New Year’s Day in Warner Robins. Teen arrested

A dispute among young adults led to a shooting on New Year’s Day within blocks of three schools in Warner Robins, according to the Warner Robins Police Department.

Eighteen-year-old Romeo L. Ford was arrested within a day of the shooting, police said in a news release.

“Further investigations revealed that a group of young adults had been engaged in a verbal altercation which led to gunfire,” officers said.

Officers responded to shots fired before 3:30 p.m. Thursday, in the 600 block of Kelly Street, which is near Linwood Elementary School, Warner Robins High School and CB Watson Primary School, according to the WRPD.

Two 27-year-olds were inside a home when “shots were fired from the outside, from an unknown location,” police said.

It wasn’t immediately clear if anyone was injured in the shooting.

Officers found a gun used in the shooting and connected to with Ford, the news release said.

Ford was later arrested and charged with aggravated assault, WRPD said.

The shooting was still under investigation Friday afternoon.
