Warner Robins man sentenced to life, convicted of shooting death of 24-year-old
A Warner Robins man will serve a life sentence after a Houston County jury convicted him of murder on Wednesday, according to court records.
Javon Charles, 20, was given a life sentence with the possibility of parole Wednesday after being convicted of malice murder, kidnapping, and possessing a firearm during the commission of a felony, according to court records. It was unclear how long he’d have to serve before being eligible for parole.
He received an additional five-year sentence for his gun possession conviction, according to court records.
The case stems from a shooting outside a business on South Davis Drive on April 16, 2024, which led to the death of Zephaniah Langston, according to court records.
The Warner Robins Police Department said April 17, 2024, in a news release that the incident was between Charles and Langston, and shots were fired outside the business.
Langston died as a result of his injuries, and Charles was taken to a hospital to be treated for gunshot wounds, according to court records. Charles was 18 at the time of the incident.
