A woman playing gaming machines allegedly shot a worker who refused to pay her at a Warner Robins convenience store Monday, a city official said.

Laquanda Fluellen, 39, was “using gaming machines and demanded to be paid in cash,” a news release from Mandy Stella, the city clerk, said. These games are similar to gambling or slot machines.

A 911 call reported the incident before 10 a.m. at Friendly Food Store, 210 Chilton Place, which is beside Lieu’s on the Go Chinese restaurant.

Fluellen “became agitated and began yelling” when the 32-year-old store clerk refused to pay her, the news release said.

The suspect allegedly chased the 32-year-old with a fire extinguisher around the store before the worker took it out of her hand, according to Stella.

Fluellen then allegedly took out a gun and shot the worker in the hand “during a struggle over the weapon,” Stella said.

The 32-year-old survivor was taken to a local hospital and listed in stable condition, the news release said.

The 39-year-old suspect fled the store and was arrested about 100 feet away near Butten Drive and Chilton Place, according to Stella.

She was booked in the Houston County Jail, and charged with aggravated assault and battery involving a gunshot wound connected to the “altercation,” Stella said.

Anyone with details related to the shooting is urged to call WRPD’s Criminal Investigations at 478-302-5380 or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
