Deputies seize over $600,000, arrest 2 in ‘high-risk’ drug search at Macon home

Two people were arrested after deputies found over $600,000 worth of drugs that were allegedly being trafficked at a Macon home, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

The FBI helped the sheriff’s office’s Gang Unit and Patrol Division execute a search warrant Wednesday at a home in the 700 block of Key Court, in a neighborhood off Mercer University Drive, deputies said in a news release Friday.

It was a “high-risk drug search,” deputies said.

Over 50 pounds of marijuana, 4 pounds of cocaine, 39 grams of crack cocaine and 7 grams of ecstasy were seized and used as evidence, according to the sheriff’s office. The street value of the drugs was $639,600, deputies said.

They found four handguns, an assault rifle and several “high-capacity magazines,” which hold more bullets than average, a news release said.

Two vehicles and cash were also used as evidence, according to the sheriff’s office.

Jimmie Lee Jones and Kinjarra Bonner were arrested and booked into the Bibb County Jail, the BCSO said. Their bonds were denied.

They were each charged with trafficking marijuana, trafficking cocaine, trafficking crack cocaine, possession of Schedule I ecstasy with intent to distribute and five counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, deputies said.

“This is a significant seizure of illegal drugs, particularly in the amounts of cocaine and ecstasy,” Sheriff David Davis said in the release. “The fact that these dangerous drugs and potentially dangerous weapons were taken off the streets have helped make our community safer and have quite possibly saved innocent lives.”
