Middle GA man sexually assaulted girlfriend’s children, stole money from family, jury rules
A Crawford County jury convicted “a predator who exploited his position as a trusted caretaker” of child molestation, leading a judge to sentence him to decades in prison, according to a news release from the Macon Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office.
Jordan Lee Hambrick, 31, was sentenced Friday to 38 years in prison after a jury found him guilty on two counts of child molestation for crimes against his then-girlfriend’s two daughters, prosecutors said in the news release. He assumed the caretaker role between Aug. 17, 2021, and Sept. 23, 2021, before he abruptly left the home.
The victims were aged 6 and 4,, prosecutors said. The victims, their mother and their older sister testified in the trial about their experiences with Hambrick when he lived in the home.
After 37 days of them living together, the incidents came to light after Hambrick stole hundreds of dollars and abruptly left the house, prosecutors said.
Once Hambrick finishes his sentence, he will serve an additional two years of probation.
“This sentence ensures that a dangerous predator will spend decades away from the children of our community,” said District Attorney Anita Howard. “We commend the bravery of these young survivors and their family for coming forward, and we thank the jury for holding this defendant accountable for his heinous crimes.”
