‘Another predator is off our streets.’ Perry man convicted of trafficking 13-year-old
A Perry man admitted to trafficking a 13-year-old girl in Houston County earlier this month, Attorney General Chris Carr announced in a news release Monday.
Brian Smith, 43, pleaded guilty to two counts of trafficking persons for sexual servitude, one count of aggravated child molestation and one count of rape, according to the release. He was charged after the 13-year-old girl disclosed to officials that she was sold for sex in 2020, according to the news release.
Smith will serve a five-year prison sentence, with the following 20 years to be served on strict probation, Carr said in the news release.
He was charged alongside Emma-Lee Garcia and Noe Borromeo Hernandez in November 2024, with Demaria Williams being separately indicted in May after Carr’s Human Prosecution Unit discovered there was another alleged customer. Garcia pleaded guilty to five counts of trafficking persons for sexual servitude, which landed her an 18-year sentence, followed by 22 years of probation, according to Carr.
Hernandez pleaded guilty to one count of trafficking persons for sexual servitude, two counts of molestation and one count of statutory rape, Carr said. Williams’ case is pending.
Garcia posted online advertisements selling the child for sex, harbored the child in a motel in Houston County and benefitted financially from the sales, according Carr. Hernandez was one of the customers, like Smith, who paid to engage in sexual acts.
“Another predator is off our streets and behind bars thanks to the dedicated efforts of our Human Trafficking Prosecution Unit,” said Carr. “We’re fighting to protect our most vulnerable Georgians, and we’re taking down traffickers in every corner of our state.”
