10-year-old shot in south Macon. Deputies seek help finding suspect

A 10-year-old was shot while inside his home Sunday in Macon, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said.

Investigators asked the public for help identifying and finding the suspect, a news release from the sheriff’s office said.

A man allegedly fired shots into the boy’s home, and “a bullet entered the home and struck him in the leg,” deputies said.

A 911 call reported the incident after 9 a.m. on the 3900 block of Mathis Street, which is off Houston Avenue in south Macon, according to deputies.

Deputies responded to the scene and the child was taken to a local hospital. He was listed in stable condition, deputies said.

A “potential suspect” was seen wearing glasses, a gray hoodie underneath a dark-colored zipper jacket, dark pants and slides, according to a surveillance image at a store, shared by the sheriff’s office.

The incident was being investigated as aggravated assault, according to the sheriff’s office.
