Georgia prison guard accused of having sex with detainee, bringing in contraband
A Dooly State Prison officer was arrested this month after she allegedly had sex with a detainee and tried to sell contraband, including drugs, to an inmate, according to court and arrest records.
The guard, Ahryanna Desore Trice, was arrested around 10:30 a.m. Oct. 2, within hours after she allegedly committed those acts, a booking report from the Dooly County Sheriff’s Office said.
Trice, 26, of Montezuma, allegedly had sex with a detainee sometime after 6 a.m. at the state prison where she worked, according to an arrest warrant taken out by the Georgia Department of Corrections in Dooly County Magistrate Court.
Trice also allegedly “attempted to give” about 90 grams of ecstasy to a detainee and brought the drug along with marijuana, cigarettes, rolling paper, tobacco and socks into the jail that morning, according to a warrant.
A detainee allegedly gave $200 to Trice “for her to bring in contraband,” court records said.
A warrant from the GDC, which oversees the prison, said Trice “willfully did violate her oath of office by having sexual intercourse with an inmate and by bringing contraband into Dooly State Prison.”
Trice was charged with five felonies, arrest warrants showed. The charges included giving prohibited items to inmates, trading with inmates, trafficking ecstasy, violating oath of a public office and crossing guard lines with a weapon, drugs or intoxicants.
She was booked in the Dooly County Jail and denied bond, jail booking records showed.
Trice is no longer employed as an officer, Joan Heath, director of communications for the GDC, wrote in an email.
“We remain steadfast in our zero-tolerance policy toward anyone who violates their oath and undermines our essential mission of public safety,” Heath said. “The conduct of this individual in no way represents the professionalism and daily commitment of the hundreds of officers who uphold the safety of the public and our facilities.”
The GDC’s Criminal Investigation Division is investigating the incidents, according to Maj. Randy Lamberth of the sheriff’s office.
