TVs, fridges, sinks swiped from trucks. Months later, Macon suspects face charges
Four people were arrested in connection to a months-long cargo theft spree across Middle Georgia, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday.
The suspects allegedly stole at least three tractor-trailers filled with “flat screen televisions, television wall mounts, mini fridges, sinks and several other consumable goods,” deputies said in a news release.
The sheriff’s office, FBI, several other law enforcement agencies and GPS tracking helped find the stolen trailers and suspects.
A 911 call reported the first incident regarding two missing tractor-trailers from Forest Park around 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 4, 2024, deputies said.
A GPS system initially showed the trailers were in Macon.
Investigators found one of them on Eisenhower Parkway near Interstate 475. It was “empty with only pallets left behind,” deputies said.
The other empty trailer was found in the 3100 block of Antioch Road in Macon.
Months later, another trailer was allegedly stolen while parked in the 3400 block of Napier Avenue in Macon. It was previously loaded in Atlanta, but it was reported missing around 11 a.m. on June 15.
All of the trailers were filled with consumer goods before investigators found them, according to the sheriff’s office.
Four suspects were arrested on July 21 in connection to the investigations, deputies said. This included Quintin Marques Barkley, Willie Bernard Bigby, Terrell Jamelle Cordy and Travis Dewaine Harvey.
They were taken to the Bibb County Law Enforcement and held without bond, deputies said.
All four suspects were charged with felony theft by taking, and violation of the Georgia Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act.
Bigby and Cordy were also charged with felony theft by receiving stolen property.
Bigby was wanted in Dooly County, deputies said. It was unclear if he was wanted for charges related to a separate case.
At the time of Cordy’s arrest, he was out of jail on a Superior Court bond from another case where he faced charges including hit and run, second degree criminal damage to property, felony fleeing and eluding police officers, felony obstruction of law enforcement by use of threats or violence, and several motor vehicle offenses.
Law enforcement also executed a search warrant in the 500 block of Bartlett Street, where they recovered several stolen items and stolen trailers, the sheriff’s office said.
The case was still under investigation Tuesday afternoon. Deputies urged anyone with related information to call the sheriff’s office at 478-751-7500, or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
