A Macon man pleaded guilty Tuesday to several felonies after stealing and breaking into homes and businesses for nine months across Middle Georgia, according to local prosecutors.

Victor Hector Garcia was connected to nine separate criminal cases involving “residential burglaries, stealing vehicles and breaking into construction sites” including in Macon and Warner Robins between September 2022 and June 2023, according to Macon Judicial Circuit District Attorney Anita Howard’s office.

She called it “serial theft” in a news release.

Garcia was sentenced to a decade in prison, then 30 years on probation. He was ordered also to pay about $11,310 to victims including Macon Arts Center, PSG Energy Services and others.

He pleaded guilty to theft by taking, theft by receiving, criminal damage to property, burglary, possession of tools for committing crimes and entering an automobile.

Three months after the spree began, “the scope of Garcia’s criminal enterprise became clear,” Howard said in a news release.

Deputies found him with multiple stolen vehicles and stolen packages at his home on Longleaf Drive, according to Howard. They found a pickup truck from Warner Robins, a BMW from Thomaston Road in Macon, and a camper.

In one instance, Garcia broke into construction sites “with bolt cutters to steal power tools,” Howard said. Another time, he broke a security gate to enter private property, then fled, the district attorney’s office said.

“While no time behind bars can undo the violation these victims experienced, this sentence ensures Mr. Garcia will be held accountable for his actions and that our community is protected from his criminal behavior,” Howard said. “Our office remains committed to seeking justice for victims while holding repeat offenders accountable for the harm they cause.”

Assistant Deputy Chief District Attorney Jeremy B. Johnson prosecuted this case.
