A teen is still at large after he allegedly lit a home on fire, shot a woman, then barricaded himself in another home with a child in Macon Tuesday, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

He fled before the sheriff’s office’s SWAT team could arrest him, deputies said in a news release.

The 18-year-old suspect, Nicholas Ishmael Floyd, was considered “armed and dangerous,” deputies said.

The sheriff’s office was still searching for Floyd Thursday morning, and deputies asked the public to help find him.

Floyd is about 6 feet tall, weighs 150 lbs and has an afro, the sheriff’s office said.

What happened

Floyd reportedly “(set) a residence on fire,” then shot a 52-year-old woman in the 1700 block of Madden Avenue, which sits off Mercer University Drive and U.S. Highway 41, deputies said.

Then, Floyd took a 12-year-old boy with him to a home on the 4000 block of Summer Hill Drive, which sits off Mercer University Drive near Log Cabin Drive, deputies said. It’s about 3 miles from the shooting and fire.

Floyd was armed and “barricaded himself inside” the home with the child, the sheriff’s office said.

The sheriff’s office’s SWAT team, hostage negotiators and patrol deputies responded to assess the situation. SWAT entered the home and recovered the 12-year-old who “returned to his family unharmed,” deputies said.

But Floyd fled from the scene before officers could find him.

Deputies were dispatched regarding the shooting just after 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Deputies found the injured woman on Log Cabin Drive and Presidential Parkway, which is about half a mile away from the home where Floyd allegedly barricaded himself.

She was taken to a medical facility where she was listed in stable condition Wednesday, deputies said.

The incidents were still under investigation Thursday.

Anyone with related information was urged to call the sheriff’s office at 478-751-7500, or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
