A woman was killed in an alley behind a restaurant plaza in Macon Tuesday evening, according to the Bibb County Coroner’s Office.

A 911 call at 7:48 p.m. reported a person was shot on Raines Lane, behind Little Caesars and US Deli, a wing shop near the intersection of Pio Nono Avenue and Montpelier Avenue, according to Coroner Leon Jones and the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the scene and found the victim with a gunshot wound, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

Paramedics took the victim, a 30-year-old woman, to a medical facility where staff pronounced her dead at 8:18 p.m. from injuries sustained in the shooting, deputies said.

The coroner’s office identified her as Ashanti Macon.

Macon’s family was notified of her death, Jones said.
