A man was fatally stabbed and found on a roadway in a west Macon neighborhood Monday afternoon, according to the Bibb County sheriff’s and coroner’s offices.

A suspect was arrested a few hours later in downtown Macon.

A 911 call reported a person was unresponsive around 5:30 p.m. on the road in front of a brick home at 4738 Pine Valley Drive.

Brock Rama Fowler, 35, was “stabbed in the back,” Coroner Leon Jones said.

Fowler also had a head injury. It appeared “he fell over and struck his head,” Jones said.

Paramedics took Fowler to Atrium Health Navicent hospital, where he was pronounced dead around 6:30 p.m., Jones said. His family was notified by 7 p.m.

No one else was injured, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

‘Person of interest’ charged

A Macon man was charged with murder in connection with Fowler’s death, according to the sheriff’s office.

Eric Scott, 49, who was initially described as a “person of interest” was arrested shortly after the incident within the 400 block of Poplar Street in downtown Macon, deputies said.

Patrol deputies took Scott to Investigations Headquarters, then to the Bibb County Jail just before 9 p.m. He was charged with murder and held without bond.

The incident was still under investigation Tuesday morning.

Anyone with information related to the death was urged to call the sheriff’s office at 478-751-7500, or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
