A U.S. Postal Service worker was accused in Macon federal court of embezzling money orders, court records from Monday show.

Joshua Jarell Lattimore was charged with one count of theft by conversion, a misdemeanor, alleging that between Sept. 24, 2024, and Nov. 7, 2024, he had embezzled and converted to his own use approximately 12 money orders that belonged to the USPS, according to court records. At the time, he was employed as a sales, service and distribution associate.

The amount Lattimore obtained is unclear.

If the value of the money orders that Lattimore allegedly embezzled is over $1,000, he could be fined and face up to 10 years in prison. However, if the value of the money orders combined does not reach $1,000, he could still face a fine but only one year of prison.
