Citizen complaints lead to 5 arrests for narcotics distribution in Monroe County

Five men from Monroe County were arrested on narcotic charges after Forsyth residents’ complaints spurred an investigation by the sheriff’s office.

An investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office into Forysth residents’ complaints about narcotic sales led to the arrest of five men, the sheriff’s office said Tuesday.

Sheriff Brad Freeman tasked his Narcotics Unit team to investigate multiple complaints made by Forsyth residents, which led to arrests conducted between Monday and Tuesday.

Those arrested were:

  • Emory Denby, 50
  • Rex Williams, 69
  • Frederick Zellner, 42
  • Robert Downs, 48
  • John Blake Smith, 54

They were all from Monroe County. They’re charged with sale and distribution of methamphetamine and cocaine and are being held at the jail without bond, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said.

The case was still under investigation on Tuesday.
