Officers find man shot, killed at Macon apartment complex. Investigation underway

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting that happened at a local apartment complex Thursday.
The sheriff’s office said in a news release that officers were called to the Autumn Trace Apartments located at 1745 Rocky Creek Road just before 7:30 p.m. regarding a person shot.
“Deputies arrived on scene and discovered a male inside of an apartment unresponsive with a gunshot wound,” the sheriff’s office said.
The victim was pronounced dead on scene by Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley, the sheriff’s office said.
The victim was identified as Marcus Cunningham, 22, Coroner Leon Jones told The Telegraph. He had a gunshot wound to the chest and was pronounced dead just before 8:30 p.m.
The incident was under investigation Thursday evening.
