Suspect arrested, pedestrian hospitalized after hit and run in downtown Macon
A woman was arrested Tuesday in connection to a hit-and-run crash that left a man severely injured in downtown Macon, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
Witnesses called 911 and reported a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle around 1 a.m. Sunday on Poplar Street, a news release from the sheriff’s office said.
Deputies found a 36-year-old man injured from a crash. An ambulance took him to a local hospital where he was listed in “critical but stable condition,” the sheriff’s office said Tuesday.
Investigators identified Mykia Tenequia Williams, 35, as the driver who hit him, according to the sheriff’s office.
Williams was arrested around 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, at a home within the 4600 block of Sylvester Circle, deputies said.
She was charged with hit-and-run resulting in serious injury or death. Williams was being held without bond at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center Tuesday.
