Person found dead inside Bibb County jail, deputies investigate
An incarcerated person died at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center Wednesday morning, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said.
Corrections deputies found 62-year-old Georgia Oliver Crafter “unresponsive” just before 6 a.m., according to a news release from the sheriff’s office, which runs the jail.
Emergency medical services pronounced the person dead at the scene, deputies said.
“Medical staff did advise that the inmate did have an extensive medical history,” the sheriff’s office said.
Internal Affairs investigators from the sheriff’s Office of Professional Standards were investigating the death, and an autopsy will be performed.
Crafter was held in the jail for the Upson County Sheriff’s Office, according to the BSO.
Relatives were notified of Crafter’s death by around 10 a.m., the Upson County Sheriff’s Office told Bibb County deputies.
