Fundraiser launched after 2 year old found dead in Perry. Investigation ongoing
The family of a 2-year-old girl who was found dead in a Perry trailer park on Friday have launched a GoFundMe to cover her funeral expenses.
The relatives said A’Layah Joyner was the child found among the four people found dead by police in Perry Friday. The four were all family members, police said. Joyner was found dead alongside three other family members — 82-year-old Beaulah Robinson, 51-year-old Michelle Joiner and 37-year-old Tuquondea Robinson — during a welfare check. Investigators have not specified how the four victims were related. An autopsy revealed that three of the victims were stabbed and one was suffocated.
When investigators first identified the victims, they said the child’s name was A’laoiah Joiner. Police have not responded to requests for comment clarifying the spelling of the child’s name.
Perry Police and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are still investigating. They said they had a person of interest, but did not identify them. They said the person of interest likely knew the victims, and they don’t believe that person poses a threat to the broader community.
The GoFundMe, which was started by Joyner’s godmother, Constance Braswell, and aunt, Teresa Fears, has raised more than $4,000 of its $10,000 goal in the five days since it was posted.
According to the GoFundMe, some of the proceeds will also go towards Joyner’s mother, who is still alive.
“We are still trying to process, and the investigation is still ongoing,” Fears wrote on the GoFundMe. “No matter the circumstances, no mother should have to grieve their child.”
