Bibb County deputies arrest a third suspect in connection to 2024 shooting death

An additional arrest has made been in connection with a shooting death that happened eight months ago in Macon, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said Friday.

With assistance from Bibb County deputies, the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Johnquavis Leonardo Rutledge, of Macon, on March 12 at 1:24 p.m. within the 300 block of Pursley Street.

Rutledge was wanted in connection to the death of 20-year-old Gabreon Tyrese Harrison, who died from a gunshot wound in the 2400 block of Holland Drive last year.

Rutledge has been charged with murder, and he was being held without bond Friday, according to law enforcement records.

Authorities said Rutledge attempted to flee on foot from members of the task force, but he was apprehended. Rutledge sustained a leg injury and was transported to a medical facility for treatment.

Rutledge was escorted by deputies into the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center Friday.
