Suspect surrenders, is arrested months after fatal hit-and-run in Macon, deputies say
A man was charged with homicide Tuesday about two months after he allegedly killed a woman with a vehicle in Macon, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said.
Investigators initially thought the victim had died from a stab wound.
It later turned into a hit-and-run investigation, deputies said.
A 911 call reported a “fatal stabbing incident” around 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 19, near the 4900 block of Bloomfield Road, deputies said.
Deputies found Priscilla Watson, 43, of Macon, “unresponsive suffering from a stab wound,” the sheriff’s office said in a news release that day.
About a week later, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation notified deputies that an autopsy report revealed her injury was “consistent with being hit by a vehicle,” according to a news release from Monday, Jan. 27.
Quintarius Johnson, 36, turned himself in to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Johnson’s lawyer also contacted investigators regarding his client’s surrender, according to the sheriff’s office.
Warrants were issued and Johnson was charged with first-degree homicide by vehicle. He was denied bond.
