Woman accused of driving car at woman, children in grocery store parking lot

A woman accused of driving a car at a woman and her two young children, nearly striking them, in a grocery parking lot in August has been indicted on aggravated assault and child cruelty charges.

Mia Ellana Hollingsworth, 35, of Macon, is charged with three counts of aggravated assault and one count of cruelty to children, according to an indictment filed Tuesday in Bibb County Superior Court.

Authorities allege Hollingsworth’s car was parked in front of the Hartley Bridge Road Kroger on Aug. 7, blocking a ramp used for shopping carts and wheelchairs, when a woman and her two young children exited the store. Hollingsworth and the woman had a conversation about moving the car.

Hollingsworth later drove toward the mother and her children, aged 2 and 5, “accelerating,” but stopped without striking them, according to the indictment.

Hollingsworth was released from jail on $2,500 bond Aug. 13, according to jail records.
