Bibb County deputies announced Friday afternoon that they have arrested a suspect in connection with a stabbing death a year ago.

Khalid Rashid Harper is in custody at the Bibb County Jail on murder charges, deputies said. His bond was denied.

Deputies found Mitchell Edward Wells, who was thought to have been homeless, dead from a single stab wound on Jan. 23, 2024, at 2:17 a.m. in the 4000 block of Forest Avenue West.

Harper is also thought to have been involved in the shooting death of Rashad Reddick on April 19, 2024. Reddick was shot at home just before midnight at the 3500 block of Fair Street, according to news reports.

Harper was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force approximately a month after that incident, deputies said.
