Woman running on I-75 after argument is hit, killed. Suspect didn’t stop, Macon deputies say
Deputies were still searching Tuesday for a suspect who fatally struck a woman with their car Sunday, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
The victim was hit and killed moments after an argument with her sister, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office. The vehicle that hit her continued driving and fled the scene.
A 25-year-old woman was driving northbound on Interstate 75, with her 28-year-old sister, Victoria Otto, as a passenger.
The 25-year-old driver reportedly “pulled over to the left shoulder of the interstate while having a disagreement with her sister,” deputies said.
Otto got out of the Kia and “began to run across the interstate and was struck by a vehicle that did not stop,” the sheriff’s office said.
Nobody was arrested as of Tuesday morning, according to Lt. Linda Howard.
Otto was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Coroner Ronnie Miley, and family was notified.
An ambulance took the driver of the Kia to Atrium Health Navicent where she was listed in stable condition, according to the sheriff’s office.
The incident was still under investigation Tuesday. Deputies urged anyone with related information to call the sheriff’s office at 478-751-7500.
