Macon prosecutors want public’s help finding a homicide witness, offering cash reward
The Macon District Attorney’s office is asking for the public’s help in locating a “crucial witness in an ongoing double homicide investigation,” officials said Thursday.
District Attorney Anita Howard’s office, of the Macon Judicial Circuit, is looking for Joshua Cason, 21. Officials said they have attempted every effort to get Joshua Cason’s cooperation but haven’t been able to locate him. His testimony is vital to bring justice for the victim’s families and community as well as maintaining public safety, they said.
“When violent crimes go unsolved due to lack of witness cooperation, it emboldens criminals and puts all our neighbors at risk,” the district attorney’s office said Thursday.
Susan Ryan, a spokesperson for the district attorney’s office, confirmed that he’s a crucial witness in a double homicide that occurred in downtown Macon in July 2021, which landed Jacorey Meadows in custody for a murder charge, according to media reports.
Donovan Cason and Kabryan Johnson died as a result of the fight, reports say.
If anyone has information on Joshua Cason’s whereabouts, they’re encouraged to call the Macon Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office at 478-719-6303. All information will be kept confidential and callers can remain anonymous.
A $500 reward will be given to the first person who tells the district attorney’s office of Cason’s location, they said.
“Together, we can ensure justice is served and our community remains safe,” said the district attorney’s office.
