Suspect arrested months after shooting leaves 2 injured in Macon, deputies investigate
A suspect was arrested Sunday two months after he allegedly shot two men in Macon, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
Macon man Steven Keywone Pettigrew, 24, allegedly shot two men ages 62 and 45 years old on Dec. 14, the sheriff’s office previously said. The shooting occurred in the 1000 block of Fort Hill St.
Pettigrew was detained after he was allegedly caught trespassing, the sheriff’s office said. Deputies responded to a report of a person trespassing at an apartment complex in the 4600 block of Mercer University Drive in west Macon around 11 a.m. Sunday. They found it was Pettigrew, and he had active warrants for his arrest.
He was charged with two counts of aggravated assault in connection with the shooting, the sheriff’s office said.
At the time, the victims in the shooting were listed in stable condition after being treated at a local medical facility.
Pettigrew was being held at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center and was denied bond, the sheriff’s office said.
