Suspect dies after allegedly shooting woman in Crawford County, deputies investigate
A man died by suicide after he allegedly shot and injured a woman in Musella Saturday, according to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to a call about a person shot around 10:30 a.m. on Marble Lane. They found a 25-year-old woman from Crawford who was wounded. Community Ambulance Service took her to a local hospital where she was listed in stable condition, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
A 31-year-old Crawford man, Tommie Lee Alexander, who deputies identified as a suspect, fled the scene.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested to lead the investigation.
Then deputies found Alexander dead about 1.5 miles away from an apparent suicide.
“A lead later led Crawford deputies to Fairplay Hill Road where they found Alexander deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound,” deputies said in a news release.
The sheriff’s office and GBI were still investigating Monday.
