Macon man sentenced to life in prison after conviction for malice murder, prosecutor says
A Macon man was sentenced to life in prison after he pleaded guilty Monday to killing a man and hiding the body, according to Macon District Attorney Anita Howard’s office.
Jeremy Bryant, 42, was convicted of malice murder, concealing the death of another and theft by taking, a news release from the district attorney said.
“Evidence collected indicated that Head and Bryant had been planning a drug transaction, and Byrant was the last person to have contact with the victim,” the release said.
Randall Keith Head was reported missing on April 27, 2020. He was last seen driving his red Chevrolet Cruze, according to evidence presented by Senior Assistant District Attorney Kyle Owenby.
A day prior, hotel surveillance video showed Bryant parked Head’s car, then moved it to a hospital, the district attorney’s office said.
Three days after Head was reported missing, two employees of Macon Water Authority found his body “behind a closed business on Mercer University Drive,” a media release said.
Investigators arrested Bryant after a person tipped Crimestoppers about his whereabouts. Head died from multiple stab wounds to his neck, according to the district attorney’s office.
His family told the judge they “lamented his senseless murder and the void his loss created among them,” the news release said.
