A Macon woman who allegedly stole an ambulance and beat a first responder with a metal rod earlier this was indicted Thursday, according to court records.

The indictment says Jessica Lynn Lusher was charged with theft for allegedly stealing an ambulance belonging to Southeast Ambulance. She’s also charged with battery for allegedly hitting Hunter McClure, the first responder, with a metal rod. According to multiple news reports, Lusher was under the influence of meth and cocaine during this time.

On Jan. 26, McClure and another first responder were picking up a patient at Eastside Dialysis when Lusher allegedly got into the ambulance and drove away, according to 13WMAZ. She did not make it far, they said, before she crashed into a tree. After McClure caught up to the ambulance, Lusher allegedly hit him with the metal rod.

The media reports say that deputies believed she was under the influence, which was later confirmed after drug tests found meth and cocaine in her system.

Assistant District Attorney Robert Collins will be prosecuting this case.
