23-year-old man killed after a shooting at a gas station in Macon, deputies say

A man died after he was shot at a Marathon gas station in Macon Saturday night, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

RaQuavian Smith, 23, exited the store at 3102 Napier Ave., when gunshots were heard, a news release said.

The incident was reported to 911 just after 11 p.m.

“Smith was discovered to have been hit and was driven to the hospital,” a media release said.

He was taken in a private vehicle to the Atrium Health Navicent emergency room, where he was later pronounced dead by medical staff, the release said.

Family members were notified, according to Bibb County Coroner Ronnie Miley.

The incident was under investigation Monday and anyone with information was urged by deputies to call the sheriff’s office at 478-751-7500, or Macon Regional Crime Stoppers 1-877-68CRIME.
