Man arrested after throwing brick at woman’s head in Macon, law enforcement says
A man was arrested Tuesday on aggravated assault charges after he threw a brick at a woman’s head in downtown Macon, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
The 45-year-old victim, who was hit about a month ago, was admitted to Atrium Health Navicent hospital when the assault occurred on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd on June 12. The hospital’s police called 911 to report the incident.
“(The victim) reported she was asleep outside the Douglass Theater, when she was struck in the head with a brick,” a media release from the sheriff’s office said.
The sheriff’s office said the victim sustained serious injuries but was in stable condition.
Bibb’s Criminal Intelligence and patrol units identified the suspect as Maurice Monterial Williams, 49, based on surveillance footage.
The Macon man was arrested while walking on Gray Highway just before 10 p.m. Tuesday. He was taken to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center, where he was being held without a bond Wednesday, a press release said.
