Updated: Man shot and killed at Macon’s Riverview Hotel has been identified
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office says a man was shot and killed after he tried to get into a parked car at a local hotel.
The incident happened around 3 a.m. Tuesday on Broadway, the sheriff’s office said. Deputies responded to the Riverview Hotel in response to a report of someone shot.
The sheriff’s office said the man was attempting to gain entry into a parked Mercedes sedan when he was shot by the occupant inside.
Paramedics responded to the scene to provide the man medical treatment and the man was then transported to Atrium Health Navicent, deputies say.
The man, identified as Eric Ivan Searcy-Bryson, died from his injuries, according to medical staff. No one else was reported injured.
The incident was still under investigation later Tuesday morning. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
